Whats the deepest coin anyone has found with their 2500 ?

Re: What's the deepest coin anyone has found with their 2500 ?

Deep coin finds have more to do with size of the coil, coil type, and amount of mineralization at that location more than the model of detector used. You can't compare a 14 inch find in one place with a 8 inch in another area. You still can't tell which one is deeper. The Garett 2500 is a fair detector.

Where I hunt most coins are fairly new so they are not to deep, but I have dug about 1 foot (30 cm) with the detector on a beach and the 12.5" coil.
Nice said Sandman. It is a good detecotr but depending on your budget there are bettter on the market, but for the price it's a good machine, dpending on what your hunting..

the deepest coin i ever got around here with my 2500 was about 8 inches. i tend to agree with sandmans opinion on the 2500. i think its a fair machine, with its real strengths in the size feature, ease of use and its discrim capabilities rather than its depth. for all out depth, there are better machines available in my opinion.

I agree with the above--- found a wheat penny about 8" that I missed with a discovery 3300. I like My 2500
but if i was to do it again would have gone with My other choice-- Whites DFX .
2500 is a great MD for what I need- like imaging and ease of use. Miss multiple tones in all metal.

A real 9 inches for a Standing Liberty quarter, and 7-8 inches for a Merc.
12-inch coil, running at full bore. BOTH were at sites that I (and others) had HAMMERED (me with a Minelab Sovereign)! It can do good! (I have around 25 hours of use with this machine. Can't wait for the ground to thaw, to go over previoulsy detected sites again.)

Some of you said that there are better detectors than the 2500 out there
What models do you think are better for finding deep caches?

i guess i should have said in my original post "for coinshooting". with the depth multiplier two box attachment its a great machine for finding caches.

Wow-- after rereading this post about what I wrote-- realized
I sounded a little harsh on the 2500.
I think this MD is perfect for a part-timer like Me. Really
enjoy imaging for size. Easy to use but has enough options
to cover most conditions.
Detector I wish I had-- list keeps growing!! Problem is I
still would keep all em!! -- and that financilly ain't gonna
happen!!
Getting snow,snow and more snow!!
Spring seems a long ways off!!
