Whats the best model of detector for the beach uk models if you can pleaseI

I use and love the Garrett Infinium. It is waterproof, has automatic ground balance and I believe
is the best buy for the money. Make sure you get a waterproof PI, salt spray can mess with a non-
waterproof detector. Also it is a great nugget machine and really handles black sand and hot rocks
as well or better than any other detector I have seen or used. check it out.

The Garrett Infinium LS is a very good detector for the beach or prospecting. You can read a field test at http://lostreasure.com/fieldtests/ArchiveView07.cfm?ID=LT20030826 It costs a little more than other Pulse detectors, but it has two different tones to help id the target, a Low-High and a High-Low tone. Others just buzz.

I use the Excal 1000 which is not a pulse but almost as deep and id's the targets also. I like it because it ignores IRON unlike Pulse units. I just got tired of digging deep holes for hair pins which sound good to a PI. Otherwise I would use one. :hello:

Good Luck,
Sandman

Good choices indeed anyone any experience of the sea hunter 2

Didn't know Garrett was British !

The best beach machines in the U.K. are the Deepstar Mk III and if thats a bit pricey then the Goldquest SS. The cheap option is the C-Scope 4PI which is great value for money.

Re the Garrett Seahunter, its just come in joint last place with the Whites Pulse Pro in the French field test review of beach machines.
The Infinium has never sold well and the main Garrett dealer no longer keeps them in stock but will order in if you want one. They started at £999 and ended up at £675-£695 so fairly cheap.

thanks some great suggestions Uk brian mentioned the sea hunter only because it seems to be a pi with discrimination.

Thats the one I got told off about for saying the discrimination (discreet discrim.) was so discreet I couldn't find it.

What you have to bear in mind is that Minelab seems to work better on the west coast, Fisher CZ on the east (but the Fisher would need to be used in land mode to have any hope of picking up small hammered silver which means no CZ20 as its locked in salt mode).

As I travel the country a lot I use the Deepstar as the first option, Goldquest SS as second, then the Sovereign with 14" Penetrator or 12" Sunray. In heavy rubbish the Beach Hunter I.D. comes into play.
