What's it?

Found this the other day and thought I would see what you think it is?I can see a rail car on this piece and it was found at a housesite dating to the 1800's.

Probably some type of railroad convention medal. The top part that held the ribbon. Bottom had the medal normally. Brotherhood of rr workers, etc.

I also found a button that says Barclay Flyer that I believe has a railcar on it as well.Wonder if they have any relation?

Dg39 nailed it: looks like a hanger bar or decorator bar from a ribbon badge, probably for a railroad-related organization such as the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen.

It has two places (one on either side) where a brass pin would've gone through. Ribbon hanger sounds right to me. Nice work dg and PBK.

HB, you wanna go back there and find the medal?

Nice find, Hillbilly, Well it sure is railroad. I remember the passenger train crews wore hats with metal badges on front that would identify their department. Conductor, Brakeman, etc. I couldn't find an exact match but looked sorta like the one pictured here. Possibly Pullman car porter. Of course all the other possibilities here are good.
