Thats what we experts call an "Indian Head Penny"...

just kidding, I don't know what it could be. My first thought is something plumbing related but most caps like that don't have a lip.

Don't know but it looks like it took 2 taps to install it. One center tap first and then a big tap to finish. Hub of some kind?

Funny you should say toy helmet. My dad did air conditioning, and I used to "borrow" some of his AC fitting to use as "Helmets" for my toy soldiers.

It is a AC plug. I’ve found several. I was excited when I found the first one then had a HVAC guy with me detecting who immediately ID’ed it.
