What's it and how old.

Along with my haul today I dug this weird silver thing does any one know what it is? Also found an old lid and all the glass from inside very deep. The glass reads zinc cap. Does anyone have any idea the range of years this cap would have been used. Thanks for any help, Daniel

The rubber seal gasket for that type lid could still be purchased about 1970.Mom used a lot of those jar lids back in the 50's and 60's

The smashed thing is a old mason jar lid and the white glass was put inside the lid to keep the food off the zinc lid!

Dang, I always thought people were saying "juice harp". No joke... but funny just the same.

The broken glass under the lid is porcelain. The patent was from the mid 1800's, but were used on mason jars all the way thru the 1950's. No way of knowing the age on this, and not all that valuable. Nice harp, though.

I always thought they were called a mouth harp. It looks like it's in excellent condition.

Congrats on the finds. Maybe next time you find a porcelain lid, it will have a mason jar full of silver coins under it!
