What's going on with Fisher?

Have read all sorts of stuff on Fisher being bought by Bounty Hunter. I'm just wondering if I purchase a Fisher in the future - then am I really just getting a Bounty Hunter in disguise? It's a shame that the employees of Fisher couldn't purchase the company and continue with their expertise. I am currently thinking about an F2 - however, if it is nothing but a BH, then I will have to change my attitude about Fisher products. What have you heard?

Re: What's going on with Fisher?

This is an old subject Bayern.

Fisher has been here the longest. Gerhardt Fischer invented metal detectors. The old man retired in the late 60's. The company still makes their own detectors, run by CEO's now but it's currently owned under the name of First Texas, a conglomerate Corp. Fiat owns 85% of Ferrari and young Ferrari owns 10%, and the rest is owned by some other rich Italian dude. Corporations are just corporations, nothing more. Families are soon gone by the wayside now. The oldest shoe company in America (Knapp) sold out and let China make their shoes and the soles went to the dogs just sitting in the closet (this is not a joke, they actually rotted off). They recently went through Chapter 7. There is no given any more. Things are invented here, assembled somewhere else, and the components are usually made in China now. Even White's had their detector breadboards and PC boards assembled in a private factory here and there, and the reason I know this is because I used to work in one of them as a supervisor, near Molalla, Oregon. We made White's circuitboards, and other places made the other components. In effect, yes, I used to work for White's, although indirectly.

And so it goes with metal detectors and everything else in America now. Nothing is the way it should be, so we just go with whatever is the best deal and like it, whether it's made in China, Indonesia, Japan, Australia, or the Fillipines. It seems that Fisher is the ONLY one of TWO (also Tesoro) that makes their own detectors now in America, or at least most of it.

Re: What's going on with Fisher?

I'm a plumber by trade and use the #1 rated toilets in the world. They are the Toto brand based in Japan. The last toilet I installed said on the box "made in Mexico" Even the Japanese are subbing out to cheaper labor!

Re: What's going on with Fisher?

This is off subject, but I have to ask, how do they rate toilets? I would think China would do the labor cheaper, but then maybe they would contain lead.

Re: What's going on with Fisher?

SandMan as much lead as the Chinese are putting into things lately, they must have lead in all their food too. Maybe the ratings are determined by how much lead is in the stuff that the Chinese are c - - pp - - g.

Maybe this is how toilets are rated, by their ability to not weigh too much after all that lead is blown down the toilet in a 6 month period. Some of it has to stick to the side somewhere along the way.

Re: What's going on with Fisher?

I would also like to know more about what Fisher is putting out now, This BH thing
has
a lot of people thinking and maybe some people not buying the Fisher.
Maybe Fisher should make clear which detector is a REAL Fisher detector
and which is a BH.

Thats just my thoughts on this...Roadquest..Clayton

Re: What's going on with Fisher?

I know the BH thing is partly why I wouldn't buy Fisher. And too the new F series sure looks like the cheap Chinese deals (in the pictures at least).

But at least they don't have that square box.

It was EasyMoney's comments that changed my mind at least for now. I figure for only $199.99 I'll take a chance (F-2). If the F-2 turns out to be awesome beyond belief I may get the F-4 or F-75.

Re: What's going on with Fisher?

There is a independent company in Canada that test toilets. The Toto ranked first. If you ever need one buy the Gmax toilets. BTW. My F2 works great!

Re: What's going on with Fisher?

Hmmm...?

Will the F-2 find the lead in a Chinese toilet?
