I've changed Many Drum Breaks and almost agreed with Ya :laughing7:

But I'm pretty sure the Cable Had a Hook on One end.
and way too thick, for anything I'm aware of 50's Up

I'm more inclined to Believe a Battery Cable, But too Short for a Car Even Vintage

I think if it were part of lets say, the battery bank on an old tractor, it would have been copper. Looks like steel to me. the ends remind me of the emergency brake connections...I am laughing , because you have a picture of a brake job...memories are enough... hahaha

Some kind of handle? I also doubt it is from earlier than about 1875.

It reminds me of a ground off an engine, also it doesn't necessarily mean it came from a car. Many things had engines. But I would think it should be copper although someone could have jerry rigged it with a pail handle to just get by until the proper part was bought. I have used Wrigley's chewing gum foil as a fuse just to get home with lights on my old Datsun 510 when I was in High School.
