What You Can Find In Other People's Trash

The two treasures you see here were found in the trash!

Every day people throw away thousands of valuable items.

Many towns have "trash pickup" days. These are hot!

I have found too many great finds to even list here.

They're out there waiting.

An early navy pistol:

Possibly the only photo of the Spirit of St. Louis in Michigan - 1927. The figure behind the plane is no doubt Lucky Lindy himself. I wonder who took the photo?

Thanks, man.

I've often wondered how many millions of dollars worth of stuff goes to the landfill every year.

My father worked at the landfill when I was a kid... and he said that he saw gold, large amounts of cash, jewelry, TONS of high end (for that time) computers, etc. But he couldn't touch not one thing there. If he, or anyone else, got caught taking anything with them... they could be arrested and banned from the premises for life. Sucks.

It makes me sick to know how many treasures are thrown away every day! Glad you got to rescue a couple of them! Good job

I used to run a concrete recycling yard that was beisde an landfill and after work I would go over to the land fill and snoop around. It is amazing what you could find there. The guy who directed the trucks as to where to dump found $7,000.00 in cash one day and another found a Hotchkiss shell and a couple civil war eagle plates. I was never that lucky but did get a 16 channel Peavey powered soundboard that worked and used it for my stage monitor mixes for years.

Curbside shopping rules :headbang: It's amazing the loot you can find. I have scored a couple little tykes yard toys, sandboxes and play houses. Just scrub them down and take em to the local kids resale shop for some quick cash :icon_thumleft:

Cool finds!
I have a buddy that hits trash day and does really well, so I might have a go at it myself this year.

In Germany ,twice a year they have junk days where people put stuff out for trash. Lots of nice desk ,tabels and what not. A buddy of mine brought home an old oak roll top desh and inside was a nazi medal. Everytime I got off work on junkin days all the good stuff was picked over.

In Korea we call it "road kill." Saw some of the awesome inlaid cabinets.....just put out at the corner, because they had bought new. Koreans funny like that. Koreans just do not like second hand stuff. Able to do quite well, if one will keep his eyes open.
And I have found some old, old keys, etc in cabinet drawers. One's man junk........

i "snoop" through people trash once and a while. my best finds include a mohagony night stand with inlaid leather top, framed and signed paintings, antique books, and other cool stuff. My friend said he goes and looks in the dumpsters behind second hand shops and he has found thousands of dollars is treasure behind thoes stores! He sells it all online.
