What year was a 5500D series 3 coinmaster made

Around 1985 Whites replaced the 5000D with the 5500D. Similar machine. I think the difference was nicads. I know the 5000D was really good on silver dimes. I sold Whites in the 70s/80s and the 5000D was a decent machine. Very reliable machine. Depth was decent. Like 7" in a dime depending on the soil. If the unit works, your good to go. To repair one might be a problem as Whites used house numbers on their ICs and replacements are usually impossible to find. At todays prices, though you should be able to get one for about $75.

the 5500D was a good machine but i would look at a good used Tesoro compadre at around 100 bucks for more bang for your buck

Thanks, the guy wants 75 but says it only works on 3 of the 4 modes, so I guess it maybe alittle out of date for me anyway.

I have a 5000D that I bought new. If the 5500D's ground balance is the same as the 5000D it is terrible. Save your money and get newer model. They have come a long way since then. Some will disagree about the technology but it's night and day to me.

Thanks

Thanks, that answeres my questions I had about this detector, I will continue to look for a more (State of the art) detector.

Those date back to the 80's...but for what it's worth...I still take my old 6 DB or 5000D out occasionally, when I'm "resting" my MineLabs. 😁
