Is it a dug coin?
I'm not familiar with the symbol at the top in your pic.
your image may be upside down, as noted above, pic of the other side would help.
Does it have symbols similar to those shown below?
if the other side is much different, I think you have quite an old coin. (pre 1640)

This old post is very interesting. If it is an authentic coin (not reproduction)... from the photo it looks to be a 建炎通宝 jianyan tongbao (the photo needs to be turned 180)
jianyan coins were minted during the southern song dynasty around 1127AD. I know it's been a while but were you able to ID the coin since discovering it?

If it is authentic, in 2013 I would have nominated it as a banner find. Based on the Chinese cash coin discoveries on this site, It would be one of the oldest chinese coin finds (again if it's authentic.)
