I have someone offering me silver Ikes unc and proofs for sale they are wanting $9 each for these is this a good price to pay for these or is he asking to much. He has 10 and I can get them all for $90. should I jump on these or pass for now. I would really like to heard what you guys think. I am trying to build my silver back up some are we got robbed over a yr ago and now trying to get some built back up for my daughter.

Too much and are only 40% Silver. I stick with 90% Silver myself. Keep Stacking

$9 is almost 40% over melt value. Of course, there is numismatic value. I bought 3 "brown" Ikes in mint boxes, for slightly over melt and saw the value double. I still have them.

$9 isn't an unrealistic price for blue and brown IKE's (check ebay for comps, include shipping). But your original post suggests you're looking to start stacking silver again. Like Marchas said there are a lot better oz/$ options then proof and UNC IKE's. Junk 90%ers, or bars / rounds are all going to offer a substantially smaller premium than the IKE's. Just my two cents.

US gov minted silver coins that were made for sale to the public (proofs, etc) are great to buy and hold for long term if you can get them at a decent price relative to spot. For example a while back I was able to get silver proof sets from the late 50's to 63 for roughly the same price as regular junk silver (this was back when silver was over 30 per ounce). Now those mint sets are selling for much higher premiums, especially the ones from the late 50's. It is possible 40% Ikes with original mint package and any paperwork could someday have higher premiums too, but it would probably be years away.

I have been occasionally getting modern silver proof sets when I can get them cheap too (relative to spot). I believe that some day there will be an advantage to having a portion of your stash in US minted items (especially the proof items) in original mint packaging. If you could get the Ikes closer to spot they might be worth getting (say for roughly what you would pay for cheapo generic .999) as long as they are in the original mint packaging.
