I dug her on 6/30, cleaned of the nasty crud. only "one" and a few leaves & right face profile were visible before cleaning. coated with beeswax to enhance details. need a fair estimate of value IMG_3288.JPGIMG_3289.JPG
 

A relic indeed, too bad about the condition. Nice to find something older than the hills. When I find a real old coin, I always wonder where has this coin been, who touched it, what history can it tell ?
 

Judging from sold ebay listings I would guess in the $20 to $30 range. Nice find.
 

I stand corrected--upon closer examination this appears to be an 1803 "small date, large fraction" variety. top 1 of fraction has a left pointing bar at top, the 3 has a downward spike at top left of 3 with a blunt 1.
