Hi Everyone,

I found this at the flea market yesterday for a buck.

It is a 1965 commemorative coin/token/tourist trinket for Taos NM

I think it is brass.

Any thoughts?

In general, a token is something that is a substitute for money. This piece is a medal / medallion / medalet (based on size) which is issued in commemoration of some event - winning a track meet, being a hero, founding of a town, etc. Medals can be made for their artistic value - "art medals" - as well.

I wonder where you found the relic?

I found one exactly like it a few years ago when detecting a park in Albuquerque. It looks a bit like brass, but I think it is plated to look like brass. In any case, it looks fairly good for 50 years of age.

I got it at the flea market for $1.00. It is about 1.5 inches across.

It was at the antique collectible flea market at Will Rogers. I found several things too. A lot of stuff there, most of it over priced. Regardless, my daughter and I had fun.
