✅ SOLVED What were these things?

I've had these two things for awhile, never see any before, hoping someone can recognize what they are.
No markings or Maker-Marks, Nickel plated cast, some kind of soft material on the thumb screws, the square "eye" measures 5/8".
Any ideas?

I can tell you they are mounting brackets for something, and would clamp onto a workbench, counter, or table. What they held I don't know.

They look like vintage 'sewing bird' clamps for cloth/material. The skinny pin thingie at the top generally held a pin cushion. Interesting finds

You're most welcome! I'm not sure what the square things held, but many of these had 'birds' mounted to the top, and I've even seen some that had other animals. Some also had a place to put a spool of thread as well as a pin cushion. Breezie

Oops, I meant, what is, "EASILY green checked"? I realize the solved check, I didn't get the easily part. Am I missing something?
