What we do and what others find..or why on Earth did they bury that there?

It's always seemed to me that kids' caches were pretty easy to recognize. Lots of toys or pennies or some other kid-type collection. The real mystery to me is why/how some things end up where they did, and who put them there?
Once I dug up a beer can with some silver dollars inside. The can was about 60 years old and the silver dollars were all either Peace Dollars or Morgans. They were buried under an old apple tree. I wondered if the person who buried them was going off to fight in WWII and had one last beer before leaving for boot camp, and put the silver dollars in the can for safe keeping. And maybe he never returned from the war, or he didn't remember where he buried the can. That little cache has been bothering me since the day I dug it up.
Another time I dug several half dollars near an old miner's cabin. Another small cache, but very exciting to find. I often wonder why a miner would bury silver halves when a poke of nuggets would have been more likely for him to cache. But these little mysteries will never be solved and they actually add to the fun of the recovery.

Well...in a field in Rappahannock co. Va there lies a girls baton (My sister made me mad one day and I gave it a whirl) around it lies a lot of scattered flat rocks with landscape paintings on them from the 1970's...most likely still painted because I used my brothers model car paint to paint them...some may even have my name and a date on them(always name and date your work as an artist) 
....Under the apple tree where we'd play in the dirt with my Mom's tablespoons...we would rake up coin after coin after coin...now I see the tree and knowing that once upon a time the old timers were sitting under it eating apples drinking wine and playing poker....ahh If I only knew then!!!
