What was your first silver?

Do you mean "get" or "keep"? My earliest memory would be when grandma gave us kids a dime each, to go spend on penny candy, back in the mid 1960's (Hey, I'm only 48).
My first keeper that I remember, would have been about 1978, when I began roll hunting, and searched dad's pocket change. I strongly remember a silver rosie, and 1919S wheat, from about a buck in pocket change.

It was early this year in january. I was searching 150 in dimes and was praying to find one silver. Then I saw that silver edge and my heart stopped, I pulled it out and it was a 1949-S. That is by far my favorite dime ever.

From CRHing, mine was from a box of halves. A 1967. I was forevermore "hooked." :laughing7:

apush :read2:

My first silver I found 3- 67 Kens in $50 of halves

I remember it well.. saw it a 1968-D half in a teller's tray long ago.. got it and it's actually in a cardboard flip. Although I have many other 68D since

My first silver (dug) coin was a 1912 Barber dime found at a local fair grounds that was partially exposed. I really did not have to dig it but just picked it up and brushed the dirt off it to see that it was a Barber dime. Yahoo. Now in my opinion I thought this was an odd coin to dig for a first silver coin considering I had dug about $700 worth of clad in the first 2 years. In all that time I have never dug a silver quarter or dime, but that day a silver barber. What a nice suprise.

i remember it like it waz yesterday...went to wells fargo, bought like 130 $$$ in halves, (didnt have 500 to buy the box back then...now i know better haha), and in the car i decided to open one roll...when i poured the roll out (it was a fed roll), i saw a black dirty rim and immediatly knew i had silver, pulled it out and it was a 1964-D black and gold toned 90% silver kennedy half dollar!!! i was SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!!!!!! keep it up and hh!

My first CRHing silver was a 40%er. My first metal detecting silver was a '43 Walking Liberty half about 30 years ago. Still haven't found another silver half with the detector.

My first was actually about 8 years ago when my friends and I would get together to play poker. Back then, we were college students and played quarter ante and would play with quarters and bills rather than chips. I went to the laundry mat to buy 7 rolls of quarters so that we could get started, and in the roll I kept for my play, I found a 1963. I noticed it by the rim, and let everyone know what I'd found. That one did not get played, and I've still got it.

Kindest regards,
Kantuck

My first CRH silver was a 1967 JFK; Bought $250 of rolls, each roll has "clad" wrote on; I looked the date of each coin and one of them was 1967; So amazed!

First silver was a 1952 dime I got in change at a football game a year or so ago.

When I was a kid (12-13)my first was a merc dime. When I starting doing this again in my 30's my first back in the game was a silver Candian Quarter. HH, SE

My first silver was at age 15 (31 years ago) when i dug a 1942 merc dime in Recreation Park in Binghamton, NY.

My first CRH silver was a '64 Ken from my first box of halves, July 17, 2007. Box also gave up (4) 40%ers. That was like a million boxes ago but I still remember. HH Mark

My first dug was a 1954 Rosie, first CRH was a war nickel, and the first while actually looking for silver was a 1943 Canadian dime, HH all.

Chuck.

Not my first silver but got this Mercury dime in change today. ;D Pulled it from my pocket to help take a pic of something else.

(sorry about pic size- thought I cropped it)

My first came from a Coinstar - a '53 and a '56 Roosevelt (both at the same time).

From CRH, my first was a '42 Merc (in the very first roll I searched). From there, I became completely and hopelessly hooked.

HH,
