What type of rock is this.

I have been trying to find out what kind of rock this is. It is about 140 pounds and has quite a bit of green in it. There are also spots where is looks rainbow.

Yep. Garden supply shops sell them for outdoor ornaments. I have a couple smaller aquarium size chunks.

i sold one on ebay last year . mine was more of a lime green. and only weighed about 5lbs. i got 33 dollars for it.

It's a large piece of volcanic glass. If you found it in a Maine cornfield, go back and look in the ground underneath. You should find a sealed tin with a letter from an escaped prison inmate and an envelope with money in it. Use it to take a vacation trip to Zihuatanejo, Mexico.

p.s. check it carefully for bubbles. If there are no bubbles it might conceivably be very rare "green obsidian". Apprently a lot of glass gets past off as green obsidian too.

So those aren't giant amythest, ruby, garnetts etc. I see piled up outside the rock shops when I travel through western North Carolina?
