Welcome to tnet from the UK.

Triple Gilt is the quality mark.

I notice it says; Robinson & Co. I'm no expert but these little things often narrow down the date for the experts on here.

Good luck, someone will id shortly

If it's one of the Robinson companies I see listed under different back marks it dates 1820s through late 1840s.

Which is in line with the quality mark "treble gilt".

The quality mark indicated a suppossed three layers of gilt and was a marketing ploy. Much like "New and Improved" or "longer lasting". LOL

I did not find the exact back mark yet, but I'm just an internet hack. Hopefully someone with a button book helps you out . :)

I would been happy as hell to dig that beauty!

I found a "Robinson & Jones Co. of Attleboro" who made CW era buttons (military & civilian) and a "R&W Robinson" (London?) who made "Treble Gilt" CW era buttons.

What's the diamete and what does the face of the button look like.
