what to do with all that junk...

Hello there,
After reading many posts about only coming up with junk, bottle caps or scrap metal when ya'll MD-I thought ya'll might enjoy some "food for thought". Here are many links that you can look through when you can't go MD-ways you can put some of your hard earned "junk" and whazzits to good use. ;D-It's interesting to see what artists can do with someone elses trash as well:)

If you are not crafty you can do a number of things with the junk as well:

1-take your old metal bits, bottle caps, keys, broken costume jewelry bits, etc-and list on ebay in lots for folks who make "altered books"-put that in on a search engine to see what I'm talking about. These folks who make art assemblages, mosiacs, etc would love to have your junk for their art-and pay pretty good for it. OR...

2-check if a local art school would like this stuff-many found object artists might be thrilled to get this stuff. OR...

3-keep in a box or jar and when kids or grandkids come to visit and they're bored-give them the jar, a scrap of wood, and glue and tell them to make a art mosiac or collage'.

Speaking from someone who spends lots of time online doing research, that is a lot of research! Thank you for taking the time to put together such an enlightening and informative post! :D

Seems like most detectorists have a can or box full of various assorted "treasures" around somewhere. I know I do and I haven't been at it that long. I was wondering what I could do with it. I occasionally go through it and cull out a few things that I know are totally worthless and toss them. A lot of mine consists of incidental things I have found while detecting like marbles, a set of dice, some monopoly pieces, costume jewelry, pieces of broken things, etc. I thought about making a collage but no where to hang it. My wife would run me off if she found any of that stuff hanging on the wall! The only thing is, any time I look at this stuff it reminds me of the time I found it and brings back good memories. what to do? JIM
