Pardon me !
Did you drop it on your toe, cause I'm hearing a lot of whining.

Where do you think the Coastal Range has been eroding for the past several million years ?

Wow u guys are ruthless with ur instant put downs if not knowing what it is. I'm sorry and apologize if I seem pushy or whiney. It's just that this is the first real website I feel that is knowledgeable and can lead me in the right direction. I can say I spend at least 4 or more hours on the American river terrine looking for rocks minerals crystals that may be extinct one day from all our feilds being built on. And what fascinates me the most about rocks is that something that is so dead still grows, Multiplys, and produce "babies" actually they make crystals with the right ingrediants. Does anyone know some good books to read on about uncut natural gemstones. What they look like. How they cut and polish them by hand if possible?any good websites that offer sum education on the subject?

Bob, it is very hard to ID some rock from photos. You could also try the lapidary forum (google it) which is a bunch of rock cutters and collectors. It is not a heavily trafficked forum but it is full of rockhounds and folks who cut and polish stones and folk who make things from stones.

BeeBob: Yes, there are some knowledgeable people here, but in
all honesty, you didn't give much of a description, and the pictures
are not sharp and poorly lit.

Could you take a few pics with a better camera and better lighting (not your cell
phone)? It's often a challenge to identify a rock when it's in your hand, so
doing it via images on the web is a real challenge in some cases.

Have a little patience..you'll get a much more harmonious outcome that way..:occasion14:
