I've got a bunch of Nickels but dont really know what is a good year and what isn't. I know its a dumb question but is 1964 the year they stopped using silver in coins?, I'm really new at this but enjoy the hobby and would like to by more knolagable in it. And yes, I'm also new to this forum.

Any help on this whould be great and thanks alot.

Nickels only had silver in the Early 40's.

? My personal opinion,

a Complete set of Nickels, in Mint Condition would be a Good Investment.

Mainly because jefferson Nickels havn't changed otherwise from the first

to just the last 2 years.

and because most jefferson nickels are ignored as collectable, because of the lack of silver.
You can see this, by the fact you can find 50-60 year old nickels in change regularly.

as for these new Nickels "Ocean View" "Buffalo" Etc., Like the State Quarters,
Everyone is going to own a set, so they will not be of any great value,
till 99% of the collections, have been lost to time. which should be about the year
3000 ;D

I like to collect nickels that are older than me. 1944 aond older. I get them in change mostly. I Hardly ever detect one. There isn't really any great value, just interesting to me personally. Monty
