Tim can you give a little more info, for instance in a field,a park, around a house and if a house maybe the approximate age of house, it could help in I.D.Where they were found can eliminate some idea's, also if found under telephone lines and nothing else around, except the woods it would tend to make a person research that direction, so some specifics could help. I've seen this before, just can't place them.
I think they come from some electrical device, not an amplifier, not a condensator... Sorry no better ideas...
