It was trash day in my neighborhood and while I was out walking the dog,I noticed a trash can lid open, and the first thing I saw inside a trash can was a clear plastic bag with several half dollars and lots of penny's lying in the bag.The house was up for rent ,so I think someone was cleaning up and just threw the money out.In all I picked up $5.25 in coins:hello2:. Not bad for a morning walk with the dog.

Probably an eviction. One thing I simply won't touch, but that's just me.

Nice for you though.

I love it when that happens.I was painting a foreclosure a couple years ago.The people left a lot of their belongings behind and the idiots cleaning the house out were throwing everything in the dumpster.I found a sterling sugar bowl, cream pitcher,a post ww2 electric train (early 50s)in the original box, with all the cars in the original boxes.More train cars that didnt have boxes but still in excellent shape.2 bronze griffin shelf pieces, some books, some dvd movies.

You lucky dog! :hello2: Way to keep your eyes open.

The house was abandon and the cleaners/painters were going through the house and throwing away everything,I went back by this afternoon and they had torn out all the carpet and had the old toilets outside, along with the old sinks and drapes. One of the painters(the owner) told me he bought the place and was gonna fix it up and flip it.

seems like coins mean nothing to these young whipper-snappers these days

I'm a young whippersnapper and care about coins a great deal...

From an x dumpster diver, NOPE. Well done ! I worked at an Eastern University for 37 years. When the students moved out in the spring, you wouldn't believe what was thrown away. How about 10 garbage bags of hardly worn top name brand clothes, tvs, back then, name brand stereos, gallon jugs of pennys, antique furniture, and the list goes on and on. Working nights, I and my buddies had first chance at the dumpsters, and our friends and us got some really nice stuff. We shared with all our friends. Kinda miss that stuff now.

Thats most likely what happens when mommy and daddy pay for everything. Most kids now a days dont know a thing except gimme, gimme, gimme.

Ill jump in every house-clean-out dumpster I see - most are boring (typical Storage Wars type junk) but sometimes you hit boxes of stuff that went straight from the attic/basement into the dumpster - that is when it gets amazing - every once in awhile (very seldom) someone will be annoyed -but usually either nobody shows up or they are pretty cool with it (especially if I give them a few dollars)-Im surprised people here of all places have issues with this ...very surprised - its definitely more profitable than tag sales......FOOLS!...heh

Awe yes what people leave behind is amazing, I have acquired many good things that people have left behind or threw out.
I almost had myself a 1969 pontiac lemans that had a GTO spoiler. And lots of other goodies they left behind in the house we were cleaning.
I was going to take that thing home but the next day it was gone.

I got a inboard volvo voat once. Needed help bad so I traded it for a barely working gokart that its half restored now.
Fun stuff, I love treasure!!

Pays to pay attention. $$! Nice finds!
