Okay, I give in. You guys tell me what silver kit you will accept as proof and I will buy it tonight. However, I expect an apology when this stuff passes your test for silver. Post the site where you want me to get it from. I guess my BA, MS, and MD degrees don't hold enough water. I may also add that I taught organic chemistry lab at UVA in the late 90's and I have three credits in graduate level organic chemistry. But I need the expertise you guys have and if I have to buy a silly kit to get your help and to take me seriously I will. :)

Heh, if they test negative I will be the first to admit I was wrong. I even ran the bleach test today. They passed that as well.

Okay, I just purchased this. It will be here in less then one week. If I am wrong I will admit it. If not, please give a little more help. I'm trying to locate Forest Fenn's treasure based on these finds.

You need my help? Understandable with all that learnin.:laughing7:
I'd hit my coin guys shop and let him test. Taa Daa.
Anyway..the right acid and some trial tests might be the way to go. Fresh chemicals a plus.
This vids author warns of use on coins of any value..( that's where the use of a stone comes in.)

I was looking at the same test kit. Saw it on Amazon for 29.95 free shipping.

The video looks good. But I dont know the best one to buy but I notice Kellyco carries a cheap one. Kellyco Silver Test Solution Metal Detectors For Sale - Kellyco

I mix my own with Nitric Acid and Potassium Dichromate but I would have to search for the exact ratio because I cant remember. My mixture not only tests silver but other metals as well.

I hope some of your items turn out to be silver. But truthfully I dont remember any melted silver ever being found on the beaches even the Treasure Coast or from any of the wrecksites. I could be wrong. The only time I can remember was some melted silver found by a member Pegleg that was an attempt by the Ais Indians to melt some Spanish cobs. The Ais/Calusa would melt silver and gold coins to rework them into something else. He actually found a half melted gold doubloon. I would have to search my old computer for the pictures. Another time some melted metal was found from the Space Shuttle but it wasnt silver..

If one of your items turns out to be silver, you could post it in the Shipwreck section to see what those people think. They have much more experience than I.

Here is the silver you are seeking. I found this on the Treasure Coast. But silver is heavy, so it sinks after hundreds of years, down to bedrock. . The only real chance of finding old Spanish coins are after a hurricane.
