Alright I can stare at the books and my coins and each time I look at them I want to grade them different. (I know little about coins) My question is I want to send in some coins to be graded. What can I really expect? How to I chose what coins to send in? I also would like to know on the submission forms where it says min grade and vaule, how do I determine this? I know there should be some other threads out there to answer these questions, so if you know any please post the link here. I got some Peace and Morgans that look very nice, and want to know how high they would grade. I also want to get all of my silver proofs of various denominations graded and slabbed. (is this something I should do? Also what of all the additional services they offer like variety research etc.? When would I need those services?

Thank You I know its a lot of questions but I am clueless so all advice and opinions are welcome

I would not grade anything that is not worth it. Grading, depending on who you use, is very expensive. Put up some pics of the Morgans and Peace you would like to get graded. Let us give you our opinion. I would only send in very high grade coins or very low minted coins. It could cost you around $30 to grade 1 coin. If your Morgan is worth $40, it is not worth it.

I am posting some pics now, I did not know the grading service was that high when I check with the 4 top ones on line they said the fees was like 10-16 a coin unless you wanted faster delivery time. So what are the other fees that make it so high?

the first pic when i got it said on the little card 1883 TI HEAD O VAM11R AU-50
the second pic the card said 1921 uncirc.
the peace dollar looks ok but it would not be one I would consider grading

THANKS AGAIN hope the pics are okay...low camera battery

the first 2 coins look better than the pics show like the second one looks fuzzy or pitted or something that is not how the coin looks it is actually really crisp and it has some contact marks but they are not even real noticeable

I agree with oldplaces. I would not have any of the pictured coins graded.
I am adding a few pics of an NGC graded MS 63 Morgan Dollar for comparison to your own coins. This coin was purchased for $39.00. To have this same coin graded would have cost me with a direct submission to NGC " I am an ANA member " about $30.00.
There are alot of inexpensive slabbed " graded " coins to buy for less than it would cost to have it graded.

thanks for the info, I do think that from here out I will only buy the slabbed coins

I think the cost also depends upon the grading service you use. If you have coins graded by a less-popular grading service, and you need to sell them later, you may not have many offers (other than crickets chirping). I hear that PCGS is real popular... ::)

Only buy from certain companies like PCGS, NGC, ANACS and PCI. PCGS and NGC being the best and worth more on a buyers and sellers market.
