You might look at MPC's (military payment script). Guess this means you're becoming a bill collector? haha

Look at what...? I guess I will collect some bills too. Keep them coming people.

8). Looks like an earlier series. They changed them out every so often so as to foil counterfeiting and hoarding.

5 cents Series 661 fine issued October, 1968 $4.50. Don't know the answer to the other questions.

Every few months or so, they would issue a different series. This script was made to issue to troops overseas-WWII, Korea, Viet Nam, etc. At certain times and locations, they would make an announcement that those that had any MPC's to come in and exchange old for new. Once the exchange was over, anyone holding old script was SOL as it was now worthless.
Most aren't very expensive although some are quite valuable. Here's a couple of links.

So that give you an idea what it's all about

Thanks Stoney56 for the great information. No one else has any bills they collect and wish to share?

Once upon a time the dollar was as good as gold. The military issued MPCs to keep the dollar off the black market. You could only spend them on a military base. No good outside. Strangely enough when I was in Libya in the early sixties the local merchants wanted dollars, then MPCs and last of all their currency. Apparently some of the GIs were swapping out MPCs for them, very illegal. JIM

Hey,

Don't really collect bills although many years back I was going through some canadian bills from a vacation to Canada just to take them to the bank for exchange. Before I went I just happened to run accross some information on certain candian bills that supposedly had a devil's face in the engraving in the Queen's hair done by those in opposition to the government. All those particular bills that they could find were recalled and destroyed. Turns out I had a $5 bill with the "face". Not worth a whole lot but interesting just the same. Goes to show you, do the proper research before getting rid of stuff.
