it's 13" inches long and has a 1" in sized hole for a nut on one end and a pry bar on the other end

what was it used for originally? and what era?

Tire iron, perhaps?

most tire irons have a bent handle so they have clearance while turning it.

but maybe it was made for the early autos with wagon spokes and narrow tires?

My 1931 Chrysler had one just like that . the nuts were near the outside, the rim and tire came off the wheel, then the rim was collapsed with another tool the tube patched , rim sprung back out and placed on the wheel. A real pain in the tale ,dirty knees and damaged fingers. Been there done that and got the T shirt Oh , a four pound hammer was needed too.
