Found this sword about three days ago in salem VA about three inches down. I found this where an old pole barn was torn down for home construction a few weeks ago.The barn probably pre dated 1910 at least if not older. This sword is defiantly a hammered blade and not a full double edge, the entire bottom edge is sharpened and about six inches of the top edge leading toward the tip is sharpened. There is absolutely no kind of markings on the blade or handle other than hammer marks.Even the handle is hammered,Ive never seen anything like this one but it is defiantly old,The end cap of the sword is what mounts the handle to the blade...I posted some pics of it here, any help identifying it would be greatly appreciated.

I researched this sword and it is definetly an indian tulwar sword from the late seventeen hundreds to the mid 1800s. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME thing to find in the hills of virginia.

colonial era to just pre civil war era --late 1700 's to mid 1800 era indain made tulwar sword * sweet find -- war of 1812 type relic possible * or colonial indain war era sword (1820/30 era) or mexican american war maybe even. --a bit "old fashioned" for a civil war era sword but in a pinch it could have been used as a confederate sword < I guess.

the british model 1796 * blade is quite similar to the tulwar sword in design and is thought by many to be modeled after it .

Im thinking this was just hanging in the barn before it was demolished, it was partially collapsed and unsafe,Has been since i was a kid thirty years ago. They removed alot of old tractor parts etc and hauled the materials from the barn its self away to grade a house seat, We were more or less coin shooting when this was found.
