Wish I had my old rock collecting kit. there was something similar in it but I can't remember the name :-\

that silicon looks a lot like it! That's a way cool rock though! I would definitely keep that....way cool find.

any gold highlights must be reflection from taking the pic, it is a solid shiny silver color.it took a bit of work but you can break it , makes a fine silverly powder when broken.only broke off a small piece so its still a very cool looking rock.definitely a keeper

I can't recall the name of it, but I have a small 2 to 3 inch piece of something which the texture looks alot like that... except mine is darker in color, more like hematite color. I found it in a run-off ditch going down the slope of a small mountain in Tennessee close to my old grandmother's house. She said she used to see plenty of those types of rocks by the railroads when she was younger. I have no idea, but I know it has little small porous holes in it that isn't very recognizable until get it within a good 12 inches of your eyes. Wish I could help on identifying yours. It's pretty....
