What kind of ring is this? Need help!

I found this silver ring at an old (1880's) house site in Ohio, but I don't know if it is old or not. It does say sterling silver on the band (twice). The size is a bit over 1 inch top to bottom.
Any ideas?

Looks Victorian era, and possibly sand casted. Gonna look purty on some woman's finger.
