Does anyone know (just by looking at these pictures) what they are used for, and origin of tribe? Thanks for the help!

The natural kind. Keep looking, maybe pic #13 will be something

No...they all show signs of being man made.

Welcome to Tnet, some times photos don't show what you see, but they look natural to me. Mother nature can mess with your head big time. HH

I know in some of your pics you think you have some carved animals but they are mother nature made. Welcome to the hobby, rock

I'll try to post some better pics, I do appreciate the input though.

Not trying to be rude but have you found any arrowheads or scrapers where you found these at? What state are you in?

I agree with everyone on this but I will say if your finding these you are close. abraders for the knapping process I find them always around a mine site or reduction site ..in other words it's there garbage from the whole process somewhere close by ill bet you find some worked flint or chert ;)

Good luck & keep looking. Got to be something close by.

Sorry but those are just natural rocks. The shapes are not due to the process of the hand-of-man, but rather mother nature.

I understand you might be new to the hobby, but hopefully you read some of the threads and look at actual artifacts and be able to learn the difference.

Hippy

I'd say, just about all natural. Number 3 looks like it could a graver, that nice little tip doesn't look natural at least to me.

Sorry my thread title was misleading. I'm in central Ohio and haven't found any arrowheads...I've done a little research and believe the area I found these is an old site of some kind, but then again I could be wrong. Anyway, I think my eyes only see what I want the rocks to be...Here's a few more pics, prob. all natural but hey..

If you are central Ohio then you are in a prime spot to find artifacts. You seem to only be picking up stones and rocks though. I don't see any Flint or Chert pieces at all in any of your pics. You're best bet at finding some true artifacts will be to concentrate on finding Flint chips and checking those first until you get more experience. Nothing you have in either post on this thread is an artifact.

Believe me everyone that starts this hobby picks up a lot of rocks, because you want to find something so bad. Like Reaper said you are in the right area, heck you are in the center of artifact heaven, just keep looking and you will find them. It takes a lot of time and miles to reap rewards:icon_thumleft:HH

I'm in the land of quartz and rhyolite. I find little chert or flint. I thought this piece was chert.

Reaper knows your area and I'll not attempt to dispute his word. I do want to know what this type of stone is, if not chert. Any answers??

Looks like limestone NC
