I have found turn of the century coins at this sight, Im wondering if anyone has a Clue to what coin this was. Looks like elizabeth and Im not sure about the other word -egina. I can see some design maybe flowers, other words that are to drilled away to make more than a letter, the ring is actually the size of a quarter So it would had to of been a Larger coin.

I belive this is correct.

Canada is the only country to put "regina" in full on the coinage - only Canada and Britain still use Latin, and "regina" appears on British coinage abbreviated: REG. If it's currently quarter-sized then I assume it was originally a Canadian 50 cents. This small-sized lettering was only used on silver 50 cent coins in 1965 and 1966.

Your coin would have originally looked like this.
Definetly narrowed down the date range.

I am still unable to find a victroria 50 cent picture 1870-1901

Dont think those are spooned rings in that pic BigC . How could there be any detail on the outside of a spooned coin ring?

I dont remember there are different ways to make spooned coin rings. Ill have to search for the link. I saved the pic of these coin rings in my files after reading the story.

ADDED: You may be correct because I have them labeled simply as "coin rings." So "spooned" may not be proper. I just dont remember but they are hand made from coins.. Thanks for the heads up.

Sorry Texan to hijack your post. I just thought these coin rings were amazing and it was related to your cool find. If I find the story Ill post it. All I remember first hand is kids tap tap tapping on coins with spoons on the school bus for some kind of school project. ;D
