I found these two items at railroad ghost town near me, can anyone tell me what they were used for, or how they were worn? Are they for stockings? The darker one has Pat. dates of Aug 8 93, and July 2 95. I have found a lot of suspender clips at this site, but these are different. Thanks in advance!

End clips for over the shoulder straps on coveralls. These clips go over the metal buttons on the bib portion of the coveralls. Can also be found on vintage suspenders. The bit of decoration on these tips tend to lean toward the suspender application.

Interesting! I took a q-tip with some olive oil to the on the bottom with lighter color, and it revealed Boston Garter! I assume that they were worn by either men or women? Thanks for all the replies!

Boston Garters were for gentlemen. I believe they made them well into the 1960's.

With the reducer on the top tencents is probably correct. Coverall/suspender clips would have a wide ring without that reducer.

at first glance I though it had something to do with the horses

Lol, I generally thought that these are some kind of things in order to put on your feet like snowmobiles :laughing7: I think this is due to the fact that the photo does not represent their real size ...

Yes. It's always best to show the size with a ruler or a similar sized, common object. These are laying on a paper towel so you can kinda, sorta get an idea of the size.

We've seen these on the forum before. I recognized the item right away. So, in this case, size doesn't matter. :laughing7:

Also, depending on size, these type of clips were used for women's silk stockings. Continued to be used with nylons up until the invention on pantyhose!

Honestly, I didn't immediately understand that they were lying on a paper towel :laughing7: , you must admit that not everyone will understand by the texture that this is a paper towel, and not, for example, a blanket.

Paper towel texture recognition comes with experience. Although I will admit I don't recognize them by brand... yet.

After you've been on this forum for a decade or so you'll be saying to yourself, "Oh, I know what that is..." about any number of things posted on here.
