Almost looks like a broken shoe buckle, but the pic leaves a lot to be desired.

It was found in south east maine, there are zero markings whatsoever on it, and yes it has a thick section with a pin hole in the center of the curved portion. Apologies for the photo.
 

Also, it's a little over an inch in size. Realized I didnt put anything in the photo for scale.

Yep, that is a piece of an 18th century shoe buckle. Even though the house was built in the 1920s, the fact that you are in Maine means there is a good chance of earlier activity on the property. Keep looking!
