I looked up some info. on buckles a few days ago cause' I've been digging a lot of them lately. I don't know if you could ever come up with an exact year and usage for most of your average buckles. But I do think that ninety five percent of buckles like that came from some type of horse rigging, being though horse's in "The day" were utilized in so many different ways.
