Hunted a town fair parking lot that has been around since 1912. I'm sure this item is not that old, but, I am curious as to what it might be. It is 1 1/4" from bottom to the top of the knob and 1 1/8" across the flattened bottom. There is a metal bottom that is flattened inside. I tried to remove the knob by pulling and unscrewing, to no avail. Although the knob is very tight, I am almost certain it is something that could have been removed at one time. Any ideas?? I'm thinking a purse sized perfume container.

There are no signs of decoration or print.

Perfume flask is a good guess.

This one is a little larger but you get the idea:

Thanks, Matt. It looks as if I was correct in my assumption. I just wish it hadn't been flattened so badly!

It may be, Jonnie, but, I am inclined to agree with Matt. There is definitely a folded up bottom to this thing that can only be seen well with good light and a loupe. It would seem there would be remnants of bristles were it a brush and no need for a bottom.

Yeppers, it looks like a Victorian crumb brush. Nice find, Breezie
