What is This????

Found on a recent cub scout camping trip with my son. It was on the ground in a grove of pine trees at the scout camp ground in Central Illinois.

Can't figure out what it is, but it definitely looks hand forged

What's the metal? It looks like a steel flint striker.

it looks like a striker for a flint fire starter kit.

Pretty sure it's iron and it looks like possibly JIA stamped into it.

I think it's too small for a bracelet, and the edges aren't smooth.

Other folks have suggested that's its a drawer pull, but there would be no where to attached it as the little scrolls on the end seem to delicate for something like that.
