I suspect it could be a flag staff topper because it was dug on property that use to belong to the VFW. Now part of a village park. Solid copper except for the rusted set screw. What is it 2.webpwhat is it.webp

You should post this in the "What is it?" Forum.

I moved this request from Metal Detecting over to What Is It? for more exposure.

Rather than a flag pole topper, maybe a ferrule for the bottom of the pole? Used for carrying a flag in a parade, but it's not like ones I see online, so I could be altogether wrong.
edit: as others mentioned, for the ground... but parade use just sounded like more fun.

I put this under metal detecting because I detected it and dug it up. There are other "what is it" threads there only worded differently. Took me some time to track my thread down. Where is the directory to sum forums?? This is the second time my post has been moved. If this is the worst violation you mods get, you would be on easy street.

All you have to do to see your posts or threads is go to "my posts" or "my threads" to see your posts and or threads, you can also go to your profile to see every post or thread you have made and started.

Believe me we do a lot more than just move threads, we put out a lot of fires. [emoji12] We move a lot of threads that are in wrong forums, not being answered and or not getting the traffic they want it to get.

Any thread I see title or asking "what is it" gets moved to "What Is It" forum till it is identified.
