I am a new member, but have been enjoying reading about your finds and comments over ther past several years while working overseas. I found this pin/badge/? several years ago while metal detecting. Can anyone identify what it is?

Welcome aboard! I am not the expert here, but these folks will be able to tell you in a heart beat. I hope you don't mind that I resized your picture. Good luck!

Looks like an Army Air Corp hat insignia, but I can't read the banner.I think the Army Air Corp became the USAF in '49 or '48.

1947 - The national Security Act established the DoD with three sub-departments: Army, Navy, Air Force.

The hat pin is the standard (modern) Great Seal... and I agree with trk5capt, prolly a national guard outfit. WWI or II? Great Seal was adopted in 1902 if I remember my PBK history correctly...

Thanks a lot! Now that I'm back in the states for a while, I look forward to new finds to come!
