Dependent upon state your in,could be ancient bluecut from days of old river of gold, kalif. Decomposing ol' matrix from serpentine/shale contact point-flood layer. Without hands on hard to tell. John

Thanks i am in northern ca this is on a active creek bank and the deeper you go the more it gets like a baby blue clay very sticky and also gets chunky with tiny flakes and can chunk it apart

Sometimes blue clay = nice pay

Looks like blue clay with decomposing bed rock but the gold recovery here is very course not very much micro gold as most of the pieces i get here are thick and chunky

This is almost all from one six foot wide by two foot deep whole

Where? What state at least?

Oh my bad its from northern ca in del norte county

I live in Humboldt County and never have seen the clay deposits you describe...must be specific to your area.

You better expand that hole......

The pic is only my take there are two of us in that hole and yes i think this is specific to this creek that i am on havent found anything like this anywhere else

And this is the whole which is a little bigger now

looks like rotten bedrock to me, which forms a clay as it decomposes..... can hold gold really well...as you have discovered

May be a big hole, but you never know till you dig it out whether its worth it or not...

No effort, no payout...:occasion14:

Exactly stefen !! It is a pretty big hole but most of it was huge rocks little heavy but easy to move im 27 so the back is still strong lol but i enjoy it very much im not trying to make a living just a hobby

Why did you leave that pebble in the middle ? decoration ?...lol

That pebble is probably 400 pounds i have moved it about three feet but as gravity would have it...it will not roll up hill haha
