image.webpAnyone know what this is? Has a hunting dog head on one side. Found this at a home site occupied from about 1820 through 1960. Fairly thick brass or bronze. Note the clasp feature on the back seems to attach from the side. image.webp
 

I'd guess that it's the buckle from a shotgun cartridge belt. Similar to a Mills design from the 1880's

It has the same dogs head design as those buckles. I can't see this as a complete functioning buckle and I can't find an exact match on the web. Could this be an ornament for a shotgun belt or some other ammo belt? Can't find an example but you have gotten me very close to an answer. Thank you!
