do you think it has anything to do with austria because i found a 1 schiling 1962 with an edelweiss on the back in the same spot

Austrian and German traditional costumes have Edelweiss flowers as decorations on embroideries, pins, buttons etc.

Google "trachtenknopf edelweiss" and you will get lots of images to compare.
