My wife seems to think it's the mouth piece of a trumpet or other brass instrument. It's pretty heavy and shows no corrosion. At first I thought it was a hose nozzle but it's not threaded and is much smaller.

They do. Most are actually silver plated, but there are sterling ones, too.
