Looks like just a civilian flower button with no back-marks normally represent late 18th to early 19th century however they made buttons without back-marks all the way up til today but it looks more early 19th century.

Found in Monterey. Saw similar on NGS show. They said the back was 19th century. How do you date a button?

THANKS. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A SITE THAT YOU CAN SEARCH BUTTONS. I KNOW JUST A PICTURE MAKES IDENTIFICATION DIFFICULT.
