I found this last July in a local creek. I'm not sure what it it. It's all stone.

Hi, I think you have found a Native American Gorget. {necklace piece} Very Nice. I have only found broke ones.

Indian Steve, you just made my day! I compared it to other Google pictures of gorgets and you're right on. We've found a ton of arrow heads in that creeks too. Haha that should have been a clue.

Hopefully we'll find more one the weather warms up!

I cannot believe you found a gorget!!!!!

When I was a kid, a neighbor of ours found one on her farm.

Wow!!!!! Just WOW!!!!!!! Congrats!!!!

Here's an idea, I'm thinking this may have been preserved so well due to falling to the creek out of the side walls. Depending on where you are walking along the creek the side walls range from 1-4 feet and the layers can be clearly seen. The sides are constantly falling or being washed away.

Haha now I'm itching to go back now.

Very sweet find. If you post in North American artifacts you may get some more insight
