I've had this for years. this came from a midden that was being destroyed to widen a beach parking lot. It is ground all the way around the edge. and has a diagonal groove ground into one corner. I keep seeing a face of a turtle or something.. but I think I have looked at it too much. I could probably find that in a cloud. has anyone ever seen anything similar?

I thought that at first... but most of mine look more like this..no grinding on the outside edges. And the diagonal thin groove on the corner... I don't know.

I have this one, and believe I too have over studied it. I see a crescent moon with half a face. Eye, cheek , and mouth. What do you think

I'll look for your turtle, if you look for my man in the moon. Deal?

That's funny... but mine DID come from context. It was with pottery and other artifacts.I didn't just pick up a rock.

Me either. Swear! Much of my stuff is from there. Not just rocks either, and, I admit I have a lot of old sex stones. Here are three pieces, if I'm Lie'n I'm dyin, from that site

dude, that is an abrader, look at the grooves for the bone pins Tom has a few and mine are buried out back inthe shell pile, I am making my own shell mound, lol

Ha ha... your right I'm sure.

I'd say abrader, too, but for larger items that's why the wear line is wider/flatter, plus it looks like theres a dished out spot in the middle...Combo nutting stone or even piece of fire-starter ?? Even the "Beak" could have been used to abrade material for basketry. Interesting the groove kinda ends at the dished out spot...

Are you talking about mine or gator's? Gator poked fun at mine? It looks like an abrader that they kind of etched a face in to me. Let me specify, TO ME.
