I found this near a site where a college stood from 1926 to 1961 or so. It is about 12 inches long. There is a hole on the "barrel" at the end of it that is about 1/8th inch.

Yea I still think that a small size linkage is a good guess. It would of probably had a pin that went through the hole and was held on with a clip pin.And the other end was probably threaded at one time for adjustment. And still could be from a carburator. But also could be from many other things as well.shanegalang said:Hey, theres some good ideas, where I found it is a spot that is regularly mowed, perhaps linkage of some kind off of a lawn mower?

I apologize for the untimely response!
Great idea about the linkage!
Two great looking vehicles in your pictures also. I'm gonna guess the car is a mid sixties Oldsmobile with a very innocent looking Edelbrock intake, am I close?
I think you have it with the mower linkage...........
MTD, Murray and Roper, Sears and Roebuck etc., every single one use/used a similar type to engage/disengage the mowing deck.
Great job, Pete!
Great job, Shanegalang!
