no, the tube is not hollow. it is solid and comes to a point, almost like a nail. I dont know if it's obvious from the pictures but it looks like it got bent. I think it used to be straight.

These are closer up. the part with the hole in it is also solid. The hole is smooth so I dont think a set screw would work in it. The hole also goes all the way thru.

Hello Shanegalang, Sky Pilot here.

Does your find have threads at the opposite end of the holed end?
If so, I believe it to be a bicycle or motorcycle mirror mount.

Cool find, whatever it is!

I just realized how small you are saying the hole in the end is. :o If it's that small scratch my two ideas. :laughing7: It might be a linkage to something but it is small then. They are made that small though. :icon_scratch: (sorry about that, need to read better)

Hey, theres some good ideas, where I found it is a spot that is regularly mowed, perhaps linkage of some kind off of a lawn mower?

Yea I still think that a small size linkage is a good guess. It would of probably had a pin that went through the hole and was held on with a clip pin.And the other end was probably threaded at one time for adjustment. And still could be from a carburator. But also could be from many other things as well.
Reguards,
Pete :hello:

Hello TimeKiller and Shanegalang,

I apologize for the untimely response!
Great idea about the linkage!
Two great looking vehicles in your pictures also. I'm gonna guess the car is a mid sixties Oldsmobile with a very innocent looking Edelbrock intake, am I close?
I think you have it with the mower linkage...........
MTD, Murray and Roper, Sears and Roebuck etc., every single one use/used a similar type to engage/disengage the mowing deck.
Great job, Pete!
Great job, Shanegalang!
