I found this tool at a permission a few weeks ago. I am afraid to open it because it may bust. Any ideas? No markings that i can see.

It appears the hinge is at the left tip so maybe it's a bullet mold? I'd soak it in oil for a while and then just carefully wiggle it open. Very carefully.

Lord, don't scrap it! I'm really curious to know what sort of bullet it molds. Is it a ball, or a Minie mold? Caliber? Rings? Lots of questions to be answered there. We're waiting!

Any way of knowing without opening it? It's pretty stuck.

Looks like a two bullet mold. Either of the two spots closer to the handles able to be picked or scratched out, gently? If not, I'd give the oil a week or three to help out.

Soak it in the WD solution for a day, then give it a try. Your local hardware store should have something similar. I think its worth it. If you want scrap value ill pay for shipping. :laughing7:

Thank you for putting me in the right direction. I found this on the web...looks to be an exact match...small cal civil war era bullet mold.
