What is this tiny thing?

I found this at a homestead that dates back to the 1830’s and was inhabited until the 1920’s. It looks like a washer but I have not seen many washers with writing on it. It looks old, does anyone know what it is? It says B . N & L. (Or something like that and the opposite side is blank)

The type looks old, like late 1800s? Something from the railroads? Good luck!

There was a Bellefonte, Nittany and Lemont Railroad in PA.

I think it might be from a piece of clothing made by Brownstein, Newmark & Lewis Co. of Los Angeles. They were early makers of work clothes, denim jeans, etc. They started in 1895 and Newmark left in 1905 so it would date to sometime in between.
