Not sure what the purpose of the tag was but here's some information on the company.

...Henry J. Spieker Company, a construction company founded ... in 1888. The Company built many landmark buildings in Toledo. Mr. Spieker developed and built several commercial, industrial, and residential projects including the National City Bank building at Franklin Park, the Wolf Creek housing development, and several apartment projects in Toledo and Columbus.

It looks like a "filled" "D"

yes it is a filled D, it was found today in the field as well
